Analytics & management terms

Learn what each card counts and how to use it without opening Studio. All numbers below are illustrative examples, not actual customer results or performance targets.

Viewing order

Read widget activity by understanding what is counted

A collection is a group of stories embedded on a website. A story is a sequence of photos or videos; each photo or video is a media item. Analytics initially shows all collections combined. Select a collection to narrow the results, then select a story within it to switch to story analytics.

Collection analytics

Six cards show what happens after the widget appears: which story is selected first, viewing and product clicks. Each description starts with the plans that include it.

Impressions
Free / Lite / Pro. Counts records of the widget first appearing on screen. Scrolling it out of view and back during the same load does not add another impression. Example: a recorded display in each of 100 loads gives 100 impressions. The card shows a total and a bar chart. Use: read it with Open Rate to distinguish limited display opportunities from a low share of opens after display.
Open Rate
Free / Lite / Pro. The share of display sessions in the selected period with a first story open in that same period. Reopening during one session does not add to the numerator. Example: 40 first-open sessions out of 100 display sessions gives 40%. The card shows a percentage and a line chart. Use: compare matched periods before and after changing thumbnails or placement. The number alone does not prove that a change caused the result.
First Story Selected
Lite / Pro. Counts each first-open session once under the story selected first, and ranks stories with horizontal bars. Later opens of other stories do not add to this card. Example: of 40 first-open sessions, 20 start with A and 20 with B; the bars total 40. Current stories with zero selections and past records for deleted or unknown stories are included. Use: find entry stories and choose thumbnails or positions to review.
Watched for 3+ Seconds
Free / Lite / Pro. The share of eligible first-open sessions that watched at least one media item in the same collection for 3+ seconds. Watching several items still counts as one session. Example: 24 of 40 sessions gives 60%. The card shows the rate, a horizontal bar and the 24 / 40 counts. Opens with no qualifying viewing give 0%; no opens gives “No opens recorded”. Use: see whether viewing continued on at least one item after opening, as a starting point for reviewing opening content.
Most Clicked Products
Pro. Shows total recorded product-link clicks in the selected period and a product ranking with horizontal bars. Recorded repeat clicks within a session are included. Example: 5 clicks on X and 3 on Y gives 8 total clicks. Past clicks remain after a product is unlinked or deleted. Use: identify product links that were selected often. This is not a click-through rate per product display, a purchase count or revenue.
Popular Viewing Hours
Free / Lite / Pro. A bar chart groups eligible first opens into six 4-hour ranges using the time zone shown on the card. Example: if 10 of 40 sessions first open between 20:00 and 24:00, that bar shows 10. The six bars total 40; they are period totals, not daily averages. Use: see when more opens were recorded during the selected period. This does not identify the best posting time or the response per display opportunity.

First Story Selected, Watched for 3+ Seconds and Popular Viewing Hours use sessions with both a display and a first open for the same collection within the selected period. Viewing must also be recorded in that period. All collections adds up collection-level session counts; it is not a site-wide count of unique visitors.

Story analytics

Six cards show opens, arrival at the last media item, viewing and product clicks for the selected story. Last-item arrival and 3-second viewing are separate actions, not a sequence that must decrease at every step.

Story Views
Lite / Pro. Counts recorded opens of this story, including entry from another story as well as a first selection. The widget records each story once per session. Example: opens in 20 sessions give 20 views. Closing and reopening it in the same session adds no new view. The card shows a total and a bar chart. Use: compare which stories are being opened while also considering the period and display opportunities.
Last Media Reach Rate
Lite / Pro. The share of sessions opening this story that reached the display or playback start of its last media item. Example: 10 of 20 sessions gives 50%. The card shows a percentage and a line chart. It does not mean the last item finished playing or was watched for 3 seconds. Use: see whether viewing progresses to later items and identify story length or order to review.
Watched for 3+ Seconds
Pro. The share of sessions opening this story that watched at least one of its media items for 3+ seconds. Example: 12 of 20 sessions gives 60%. The card shows the rate, a horizontal bar and the 12 / 20 counts. Opens with no qualifying viewing give 0%; no opens gives “No opens recorded”. Use: distinguish an open from viewing that continued on at least one item.
Meaningful View Rate by Media
Pro. For each current media item, horizontal bars in current media order show sessions watching it for 3+ seconds divided by sessions opening the story. Example: with 20 opens, 12 sessions watching item 1 and 8 watching item 2 gives 60% and 40%. One session can appear in several bars, so percentages do not have to total 100%. Deleted media are not listed. Use: find items with little viewing and choose content or ordering to review.
Product Click Performance
Pro. Shows the share of story-open sessions with at least one product-link click, plus total clicks and a ranking by product. Example: 8 recorded clicks from 4 of 20 sessions gives a 20% click-session rate and 8 total clicks. Product bars show click counts. Repeated clicks add to total clicks without adding more clicking sessions. Use: see the share of opening sessions that selected a product link and which products were selected. This is not a purchase conversion rate.
Product Clicks by Media
Pro. Horizontal bars show recorded product clicks by media item in this story. The row counts add up to total clicks. Example: 5 on item 1 and 3 on item 2 gives 8 total. Current zero-click items and clicks for deleted or unknown media are included. Order and linked-product counts reflect the current state, not a reconstruction of past settings. Use: find scenes where product links were selected. Distinguish zero clicks on an item with linked products from an item with none.

Viewing rates use sessions that opened this story during the selected period. Unlike the collection viewing rate, they do not additionally require a widget display in that period. Arrival, viewing and clicks are also evaluated from records in the selected period. For a one-item story, reaching its first item also means reaching its last item.

Session

A unit that groups the same viewing activity in analytics. Understanding how duplicates are counted makes rates and averages easier to interpret.

Session
A viewing unit lasting for one widget load. Closing the viewer keeps it; refreshing or leaving the page, or reloading the iframe, starts a new one. The same person can produce multiple sessions, so this is not a people count.
Display and first open
A display session has a record of the widget appearing on screen. The first open is the first story opened during that load. Opening A and then moving to B gives A the collection’s first selection, while both A and B receive a story view.
3-second viewing (meaningful view)
Active viewing time reaches 3 seconds on one media item. Pausing and resuming accumulates time on that item; time on different items is not added together. Watching two items for 2 seconds each does not qualify. Finishing a short video is a separate action.
Click count and click-session rate
Click count measures recorded clicks; click-session rate measures the share of viewing sessions with a product click. Consecutive clicks less than 1 second apart on the same story, media item and product are deduplicated. Home also has a product click-session rate based on collection first-open sessions. That rate is different from the click count in collection analytics.

Home also shows Avg. Meaningful Media Views, an average that counts each session–media pair watched for 3+ seconds once. It is separate from the analytics cards above. Some actions may not be recorded because of connectivity or other conditions; treat the numbers as observations from recorded activity.

Plans & limits

Plans determine how much content you can create and which features are available. The public plans currently available to subscribe to or change in Studio are Free, Lite, and Pro.

  • Limits include collections, stories per collection, media per story, products, allowed domains, video size, and team members. Video size means the upload limit for one original video before optimization.
  • The current Analytics page has 4 collection cards on Free, 5 collection + 2 story cards on Lite, and 6 of each on Pro. Free covers displays, opens, 3-second viewing and hours. Lite adds first selections and story views/last-item reach. Pro adds the remaining viewing and product-click cards, plus CSV export.
  • Free offers Today, Yesterday, Last 24 hours, Last 7 days and Last 30 days. Lite/Pro also offer a Custom range of up to 372 days. Line charts offer hour, day, week or month units according to the period; viewing-hour ranges always remain 4 hours.
  • Scheduled publishing is unavailable on Free and Lite. Pro allows scheduling within the next seven days.
  • When registering an invitee or using the Team page's invite button, the member limit counts both approved and pending members.

Enterprise exists as an internal plan category but is not yet available. This glossary covers only the currently public plans.

Team permissions

Roles determine the scope of management actions within a team. The three roles are Owner, Admin, and Member.

Owner
In addition to the same team management as admins, owners can rename the company, manage billing, delete the company, remove approved admins and members, and transfer ownership.
Admin
Admins can view the Team page, copy invite links, approve or reject pending members, change approved members between Admin and Member roles, and configure allowed domains.
Member
The role for normal use, without team management, company settings, billing management, or company deletion.

Ownership can be transferred only to an approved admin. Invited users are registered as pending members and are kept separate from the normal Studio screens until approved.
